My name is Yannis Rousounelos, and I’m a photographer based in Athens, Greece. My work focuses on underwater, portrait, and nature photography. These three worlds help me explore quiet forms of connection: with others, with the environment, and with myself.
I first picked up a camera during my time as a scuba diving instructor, back in 2014. At the beginning, photography was simply a tool, a way to document movement underwater and support my teaching. Over time, though, it turned into something deeper. It became a way to slow down, to pay attention, and to stay present.
With a background in graphic design and art history, I’m drawn to light, composition, and subtle visual rhythms. I’m interested in images that don’t demand attention, but hold it. Images that create space for reflection rather than noise.
Alongside personal projects, I collaborate with artists, performers, and makers, offering creative photography and videography that supports their vision without overshadowing it.
Photography, for me, is not about capturing the extraordinary. It’s about learning to see the ordinary, more clearly and more honestly.
